Please contact Cindy at solofreesail@gmail.com for what to bring. We only need enough for everyone to have one bite of each thing. The juice requires enough to refill cups twice, as we have 4 cups of juice: 1 all white, 2 white with a little red, 3 half white, half red, 4 all red.
We need:
white grape juice
regular grape juice
clear plastic cups (so we can see the color of the juice)
Figs,
dates,
raisins,
carob,
almonds;
oranges,
bananas,
walnuts,
pistachios;
apricots,
olives
persimmons
wheat crackers
something with barley
grapes.
Paper bowls, plates,
paper towels and napkins,
plastic silverware to serve/cut fruit and food.
Winter is still with us. Nature seems asleep.
The trees stand with black and brown branches against the pale winter sky.
In the Land of Israel
spring is almost here.
Flowers begin to dot the fields,
almond trees begin to blossom.
Heavy winter rains are over,
gentler showers fall;
sap begins to rise in trees.
Shvat 15, 5768
On Sunday, January 13, we sang Tu B'shvat songs, talked about trees, listened to the Lorax by Dr. Seuss, and did art creating trees with recycled paper, pictures and paint. Around us, the Walden school parents swept up fallen leaves and planted grass seeds.
Next week we will continue with our Hebrew alphabet and reading studies. We will have a mock Tu B'Shvat seder on January 27 when we all meet together again.
Please visit the Coalition on the Environment and Jewish Life for more ways to celebrate Tu B'shvat and contribute to the environment daily. http://www.coejl.org/tubshvat/
